  • Become a Student Leader with Community Standards

    Are you ready to make a difference on campus? The Office of Community Standards (OCS) is seeking passionate student leaders to volunteer for key roles: Academic Integrity Hearing Board MemberProbation Review Committee Member, and Student Conduct Ambassador. Your voice and perspective as a student are vital in upholding the integrity and standards of our community. 

     

    Volunteer Opportunities:  

    • Academic Integrity Hearing Board: When allegations of academic misconduct arise, the Academic Integrity Hearing Board steps in. As a panelist, you’ll collaborate with two faculty members and a fellow student to weigh evidence, assess violations of the University’s Academic, Scholarly, and Professional Integrity and Misconduct policy, and recommend appropriate sanctions if necessary. 
    • Probation Review Committee: Students on University Probation have the opportunity to request a status review after six months. As a member of this committee, you’ll participate in evaluating these requests and deciding whether probation should be lifted or maintained. 
    • Student Conduct Ambassador: Serve as the bridge between OCS and the UConn community. Ambassadors guide peers through the conduct process, offering support and educational outreach to students, faculty, and staff. Your role will be crucial in ensuring students understand their rights and responsibilities.

    Time Commitment: 

    •  A 20-minute interview with OCS staff. 

    • Mandatory training (2 hours). 

    • Flexible weekly commitment for Academic Integrity Panelists and Probation Review members, based on hearing and review requests. 

    • A steady commitment of 2 hours per week for Student Conduct Ambassadors.

    Sign-ups close on September 9, 2024. Interviews will be conducted during the week of September 16, with placements in your chosen roles shortly after.
