  • Training: Having Inclusive Career Conversations

    Conversations about career choices take place throughout one’s life. The self-paced online training,Inclusive Career Conversationsaims to emphasize the importance of having productive and supportive career conversations. It is designed to increase awareness, in our UConn communityabout strategies to guide effective casual and planned career conversations. 

    This self-paced online training consists of five modules, and each takes less than 10 minutes to complete 

    • Module 1: Defining Career Choice Disparagement/Bullying and Inclusive Career Conversations  

    • Module 2: Where do Career Choice Disparagement and Career Choice Bullying occur?      

    • Module 3: Career Choice Disparagement and Bullying in relationships   

    • Module 4: How are career decisions made?  

    • Module 5: What approaches exist for inclusive and student-centered career conversations? 

    Who should enroll 

    • Faculty seeking to facilitate effective, student-centered career discussions. 

    • Staff members involved in formally or informally advising or mentoring students. 

    • Students at any stage of their academic program who want to learn more about career decision-making. 

    By completing these modules, youwill be able to 

    • Increase your awareness about what characterizes healthy and unhealthy career conversations, both as the contributor to, and recipient of, career advice. 

    • Equip yourself with knowledge and tools to engage in supportive conversations with your peers as they navigate their career journeys. 

    How to enroll: 

    1. Go to https://huskyct.uconn.edu/ (Log in if needed) 

    1. On the “Institution Page”, scroll down and find the section “Self-enroll Courses and Organizations for Students” or “Self-enroll Courses and Organizations for Faculty and Staff, depending on your primary role 

    1. Click the link for the Inclusive Career Conversations that aligns with your primary role (Student version or Faculty and Staff version) 

    1. You will be directed to the enrollment page, then click “Submit” 

    1. On the next page click “OK” 

    1. You are now enrolled and can find the modules under “Courses” on the left side of the navigation pane
