    The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is seeking to hire two (2) Summer LEAD Program Coordinators to work with high school students participating in an overnight, in-person, three-day program in July. This is a temporary, student labor position. Preference will be given to candidates that meet the minimum and preferred qualifications below.
    The Summer LEAD Program is a college immersion program for highly motivated high school juniors throughout Connecticut. Summer LEAD provides students the opportunity for an experience from the UConn-Storrs campus for a three-day program which will take place from July 24-27, 2024. Students will participate in academic and leadership development workshops and learn about the college admissions process.


    Position Responsibilities
    • The coordinator must make a commitment to the program for meetings and trainings from July 22-23, 2024, as well as for the program from July 24-27, 2024. If required, there may be additional meeting days.
    • Responsible for the operation and administration of the platiorm used for the program, including monitoring activities.
    • The coordinator will play a role in student leader/mentor training and special projects before and after the program.
    • Supervise approximately thirty student leaders and work with approximately three hundred participants.
    • Take the leadership role in the planning and preparation of student leaders for each session.
    • Take the lead in discussion groups and atend all sessions.
    • Be a mentor and positive role model.
    • Provide individual and group leadership development sessions.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned and as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Be an upper-level undergraduate student.
    • Possess excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
    • Possess experience working with teenagers, community organizations, and/or academic programs.
    • Ability to demonstrate maturity, good judgment, patience, and commitment to providing educational opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience as a Resident Assistant, Assistant Hall Director or Hall Director in residential life, summer camps, or in other related programs.
    • Supervisory experience.
    • Knowledge of UConn policies and procedures.
    • Possess administrative and organizational skills.
    • Experience working with students or youth.
    • Ability to take the lead supervising student program leaders.
