    Office of Undergraduate Admissions Summer LEAD Student Leaders (Leadership, Enrichment, Access, and Diversity)


    The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is seeking summer staff to work with high school students participating in an overnight, in-person summer program in July. Preference will be given to candidates that meet the minimum and preferred qualifications listed below.
    The Summer LEAD Program is a college immersion program for highly motivated high school juniors throughout Connecticut. Summer LEAD provides students the opportunity for an experience on the UConn-Storrs Campus for a three-day program from July 24-27, 2024. Students will participate in academic and leadership development workshops and learn about the college admissions process.


    Position Responsibilities
    • Participate in mandatory pre-program training and special projects on July 23, 2024. Additional meeting days may be required.
    • Be a mentor and a positive role model to students participating in the program.
    • Provide individual and group leadership development sessions.
    • Attend and participate in all staff meetings and other events.
    • Perform other tasks as assigned and as needed.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience working with teenagers, community organizations, and/or academic programs.
    • The ability to demonstrate maturity, good judgment, patience, and commitment to providing educational opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Be a student in good academic standing.
    • Experience working with adolescent first generation high school students from multi-cultural backgrounds.
    • Possess strong leadership skills.
