  • Online Research Study on Smoking

You may be eligible for an online research study looking at the effect of flavors on smoking filtered cigars in young adults.

This is not a study about quitting smoking.

All procedures are done online, by phone, and by mail. No visits to a study site needed.

Call or text (860) 305-3061 for more info.

You may be eligible if you:

    - Are 21-34 years old

    - Currently smoke both cigarettes and any cigar product, including little cigars and cigarillos

    - Do not intend to quit within the next 3-4 weeks

    - Own a cell phone with a data plan

If eligible, you may receive up to $500 for your time, and a 2-week supply of filtered cigars at no cost.

If you take part in the study, you will be asked to:

    • Complete 4 surveys (weekly) online
    • Complete brief daily surveys on your cell phone
    • Speak with our research staff 4 times (weekly) for a Visit Call
    • Mail 3 saliva samples, which we will analyze for exposure to tobacco
    • Breathe into a small device that measures your exposure to tobacco (carbon monoxide)
    • Smoke filtered cigars provided to you (for free) in place of your usual brand of cigar product for about 2 weeks. You will not be asked to change your cigarette smoking.

You may receive up to $500 in financial compensation.
