Our program consists of volunteering at an assisted living facility about 5 minutes from campus. We wish to recruit a team of enthusiastic volunteers who are willing to appropriately interact with the residents, play trivia alongside them, and keep them company through activities such as: gardening, Bingo, arts and crafts or games. Overall, we wish to provide a fun and personal experience in an attempt to add a little sunshine to their day. It really is an extremely rewarding experience.
Transportation (to and from the site) is provided by UConn's community outreach program. You will catch the shuttle outside of the bookstore about 20 minutes before your shift, and then head down to the assisted living facility. We will meet them in their activity room, and introduce ourselves to each of the tables, and start the scheduled activity for the day as a group.
Shifts will be scheduled with either a morning shift at 10am-11am (M,T,Th,F), an afternoon shift 1pm-2pm (M,T,Th,F) or one evening shift 4pm-6pm (W). Please let me know which shift works best for you in your intial email of interest.
