Our program consists of volunteering at an assisted living facility about 10 minutes away from campus. We want volunteers who will be able to interact with the residents, play trivia alongside them, and keep them company through activities such as gardening, Bingo, arts and crafts or games. Overall, we wish to provide a fun and personal experience in an attempt to add a little sunshine to their day. It really is an extremely rewarding experience.
Transportation (to and from the site) is provided by UConn's community outreach program. You will catch the shuttle outside of the bookstore about 20 minutes before your shift, and then head down to the assisted living facility. We will meet them in their activity room, and introduce ourselves to each of the tables, and start the scheduled activity for the day as a group.
Community Service hours will be granted.
We are currently hoping to recruit volunteers to a morning shift at 10am-11am (M,T,Th,F) an afternoon shift 1pm-2pm (M,T,Th,F), or our one evening shift 4pm-6pm (W).
