LATEST UPDATE as of 11/9/2023:
As construction continues to support the New South Residence Hall, the final section of the sanitary utility work will need to cross the road at Route 195 adjacent to Mirror Lake. This will result in alternating one lane traffic for a short section of Rt 195. This utility crossing will take 3 consecutive nights (Wed, Thurs, Fri night into Sat morning) to excavate, install pipe, and backfill and patch the road starting on the evening of:
NOVEMBER 15 through NOVEMBER 17 from 6:30 PM - 6:30AM.
Traffic control measures will be in place as well as State Police Officers. Please use caution as you approach these areas and follow the detour signs for your safety.
Please NOTE: Per CTDOT, the asphalt patch being installed will be temporary through the winter (to allow settlement) before the final pavement is placed in the Spring 2024. This means there will be another short duration impact to Route 195 when the final asphalt pavement is installed. As always, we will coordinate the timing and necessary notifications when this occurs.

UPDATE 9/25/23: The night work started on 9/19 as planned, however the contractor encountered some unforeseen utilities, which required them to stop work for now. Contractor is working with their team to determine next steps. They hope to resume work ASAP. Hopefully by next week 9/25/2023.

As construction continues to support the New South Residence Hall, utility work will be taking place along the grass area near Mirror Lake closest to RT 195/Mansfield Road intersection and will be crossing Route 195 with the deep excavation to tie into the utilities in the road. Sidewalk detours and road detours will be in place to route vehicles and pedestrians away from the construction to a safe pathway. We ask that everyone use caution as you approach these areas.
This work will be taking place as early as September 19th and continue through SEPTEMBER 29th for both areas: 1) Utility trench/installation on Mirror Lake grass area and 2) Crossing Rt 195 to tie in utilities in the road.
The work for the crossing of the road (RT 195) will begin on the Evening of September 19th and is anticipated to take 4-5 days. This work will be taking place AT NIGHT into EARLY MORNING- starting at 7pm - 6am, sequencing the work by closing ONE lane at a time. Traffic control measures will be in place as well as State Police Officers. Please use caution as you approach these areas and follow the detour signs for your safety.
