  • Winning Halls for EcoMadness

From October 1-29, EcoMadness pits residence halls against each other in a quest to win the following competitions:

x Greatest reduction in water use

x Greatest reduction in electricity use

    x Best recycling compliance

Many residence hall buildings on campus are equipped with meters that measure the amount of water used (in gallons) and the amount of electricity (in kilowatt-hours) per day. Only residence halls that are metered participate in the water and electricity parts of the competition, but ALL residence halls participate in the recycling aspect of the competition.

Whitney in East won for greatest reduction in electricity use AND water use! A whopping 41% and 37% respectively. For Recycling compliance, a two-way tie in Towers gave Allen/Kingston and Morgan the win at 100%.

Winners will get tickets for free UConn Dairy Bar ice cream

The event is a collaboration between the UConn Office of Sustainability and Residential Life.
