Research

  • African American females for a sexual health study

African American young women currently in foster care or with a history of foster care placement needed for a research study.

A research study is being conducted to better understand the sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs of African American young women in foster care and the role of foster parents in helping them obtain the information they need.

You will be asked to take an online survey about your perspectives on various SRH topics and sexual health communication with your foster parent. After the survey, you will join a focus group with similar young women to share your thoughts about the SRH needs of youth in foster care and give feedback and recommendations on an SRH app for adolescents.

To participate in the study, you must:

    1. Identify as a Black/African American female between the ages of 18-23 years old,
    2. Currently, be in foster care or have a history of foster care placement, and
    3. Be able to speak and read English.

Approximately 2 hours of your time would be needed, and you will receive a $50 Visa gift card upon completion of the online survey and focus group session. Refreshments will also be provided.
