  • EcoMadness in the Res Halls

From October 1-29, EcoMadness pits residence halls against each other in a quest to win the following competition:

💧 Greatest reduction in water use

⚡ Greatest reduction in electricity use

    ♻️ Best recycling compliance

At the end of October, wining halls in each category will earn free UConn Dairy Bar ice cream! Many residence hall buildings on campus are equipped with meters that measure the amount of water used (in gallons) and the amount of electricity (in kilowatt-hours) per day. Only residence halls that are metered can participate in the water and electricity parts of the competition, but ALL residence halls participate in the recycling aspect of the competition. The dorm standings are updated once per week during the competition so that participants can keep track of their progress over the four weeks of the competition.

Your hall’s EcoCaptain Intern will be helping track recycling throughout the competition.

This event is coordinated by the UConn Office of Sustainability, Residential Life and UConn Facilities.
