  • 9/29 Join the movement. Come to UNCHAIN Disorientation

Are you interested in radical politics and environmental justice? Are you concerned (or unaware) about the University of Connecticut's ties to the fossil fuel industry and harmful weapons manufacturers like Raytheon and Lockheed Martin? If any of these apply to you, come to UNCHAIN's annual DISORIENTATION event, featuring Fossil Fuel Free UConn, on September 29th in a lecture hall near you (room TBD)!

At Disorientation, we will explore how UConn continues to benefit from destructive industries that worsen the climate crisis and perpetuate war and militarism. We will also discuss what changes are necessary for universities in the United States to improve their sustainability and global impact in a meaningful way, as well as how activists throughout history have tried, failed, and succeeded to accomplish these changes. Finally, we will present a guide to UConn's governing structures and the ongoing struggle for a democratic, affordable, and ethical university.

If you are a first or second-year UConn student, Disorientation is a one-stop shop on all of the concerns activists have identified about UConn's politics and practices, whether they relate to social issues or the economic and political system we all live under. Students who want to challenge the status quo will feel at home at Disorientation.
