  • 9/23 Medical Volunteering in the Dominican Republic

UConn Bridge to Guanin is a student-run, faculty-advised alternative break trip to the Dominican Republic open to students interested in a career in medicine. Each trip, we send a group of about 15 undergraduate students to the Dominican Republic to shadow various physicians in hospitals and help contribute to the medical care of the Guanin Community Center located in a rural region in the Dominican Republic called La Piedra. This alternative break program has supported this community by helping fundraise, run medical clinics, and triage patients, many who have never received medical care in their lifetime.
