Purpose: To learn how individuals adopt new gait dynamics in response to increasing cognitive demand. To accomplish this goal, we will use an instrumented split-belt treadmill, 12 camera motion capture system, and wearable sensors to measure joint motion and muscle function during a dual task walking protocol.
Participant Restrictions: Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 40 years old. Participants will be excluded if they are unable to walk for extended periods of time.
Research Location: The research study will be conducted in the Human Performance Laboratory located in Gampel 104, in Gampel Pavilion on the UConn Storrs Campus.
Study Details: Participate in a research study conducted at the University of Connecticut’s Human Performance Laboratory in Gampel Pavilion to investigate how individuals gait changes when performing cognitive tasks. Participants will perform a one hour walking session where they will walk while responding to auditory and visual stimuli.
