    The University of Connecticut Avery Point is proud to host the United States Coast Guard Band Free Labor Day Concert on the Branford House Lawn!

    GROTON, Conn.—Sunday, September 3rd at 5pm at the University of Connecticut Avery Point Campus - Branford House Lawn, the United States Coast Guard Band presents its Labor Day Concert and finale to its summer concert series. This event is free and open to the public, no tickets are required. The concert opens with “Wild Nights” by the prolific Frank Ticheli and moves onto a wind band classic, “Four Scottish Dances” by Malcolm Arnold. Chief Musician Charlie Suriyakham will be featured on the clarinet, presenting Ante Grgin’s “Concertino for Clarinet.” Percy Grainger’s “Molly on the Shore” and a set of William Grant Still works follows. After the heartfelt “Last Rose of Summer” by Mills & Brion and the upbeat “Trolley Song” by H. Martin and R. Blane, this concert of classics is rounded out with several iconic marches and Tchaikovsky’s “Overture 1812.” In the event of inclement weather, this concert will be rescheduled for Monday, September 4th at 5pm at the same location.
