Career, Internship & Fellowship

  • 8/30 Beyond the PhD: From BSc to Research Assistant

Beyond the PhD is excited to welcome our very own Rabbi Coffie Baidoo, a Campus Ambassador at Beyond the PhD and a Research Assistant at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in Sunyani, Ghana.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from UENR. He has three years of research and lab experience from volunteering, internships, and contract employment. His recent work sought to evaluate the anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody response to COVID-19 vaccine deployment in the Bono Region of Ghana. His ongoing research seeks to conduct surveillance for clinically relevant pathogens causing pneumonia among patients in Ghanaian hospitals. Aside from research and being a campus ambassador for Beyond the PhD, he is a member of the American Society for Microbiology and a member of the Black Microbiologists Association’s public relations committee. He is preparing for graduate studies with a research interest in using genetic and genomic approaches to illuminate polymicrobial interactions between the co-infecting bacterial pathogens, aiming to identify novel targets for therapeutics that disrupt chronic bacterial infections.

Rabbi will be giving a virtual seminar about his career path next Wednesday, August 30th at 11AM ET. Registration for the event is free and is open to anybody interested. To attend the event, you must register using the link below.
