  • Job Opportunity for Rising MA Students

    The Legacy Foundation of Hartford, Inc is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in the North End of Hartford, CT dedicated to addressing disparities in health and education. Legacy is seeking part-time (~5 hrs/week) Saturday Academy Teachers. Legacy’s Saturday Academy is a weekly program providing tailored instruction in math, science, language arts, social justice, and college prep to Hartford students, with a focus on creating a college-going culture. This is an in-person position working primarily the hours of 9 am - 2 pm each Saturday during the academic year, with additional field trip hours. We are hoping to grow our team and will offer training this summer before our fall program begins.

     

    The Saturday Academy Teacher will be responsible for:

    -       Developing and delivering a varied curriculum (depending on content specialty: language arts, math, science, social studies) for weekly, hour-long classes for up to three age groups: 3rd-5th grades, 6th-8th grades, and 9th-12th grades

    -       Working collaboratively with other teachers on the Legacy team

    -       Managing classroom behavior with safety as the first priority

    -       Chaperoning additional enrichment field trips, approx. 2 evenings/weekend days per month

    -       Additional duties as required

     

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    -       Excellent classroom management and energetic, engaging attitude with students in grades 3-12

    -       Energetic, engaging demeanor with students in grades 3-12, including some light behavior management

    -       Tech/coding skills a plus!
