Research

  • Speech Perception - Human Subjects Requested

Volunteers are needed to participate in a research study titled “Neural measures of speech perception.” The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between language ability and speech processing.

Native English speakers who are between 18-35 years of age are invited to participate. The research takes place in 2 sessions, each approximately 1-2 hours long. Sessions will take place in the UConn Laboratory for Spoken Language Processing or the Cognitive Sciences Shared Electrophysiology Resource Laboratory on the Storrs campus. In Session 1, participants will complete language assessments and a questionnaire. In Session 2, participants will listen to speech sounds while EEG (electrical activity from the brain, measured by electrodes placed on the head) is recorded.

Participants will receive monetary compensation for participation and will also be provided with scores on standardized language tests if requested.
