  • 4/4 Public Health Seminar: Professor Yazzie-Lewis

    Join the Department of Applied Public Health Sciences at UConn on our week long "12th-Week" Seminar Series. All are welcome to join.

     

    On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 6:00-7:30pm Professor Esther Yazzie-Lewis, will speak on “The Health of the People.”

    Professor Yazzie-Lewis grew up south of Farmington, NM. Ms. Yazzie-Lewis worked for the Navajo Law Enforcement and Navajo Judicial Branch and has worked with the Navajo People in the Navajo/ Hopi land dispute. She also has worked on uranium problems on the Navajo reservation for which she has contributed to the book “Navajo People and Uranium Mining.” She is a board member of Southwest Research and Information Center. She also works on environmental and social justice issues with a number of Navajo people living on the reservation. She certified the Navajo Language for the United States District Court for the southwest states.
