VAW Global Health Alliances, UConn Chapter is a global health and development organization committed to cultivating sustainable and equitable partnerships with local communities and professionals through support and capacity-building for essential and accessible health services. Our goal is to work hand-in-hand with local initiatives and leaders to provide communities with improved access to medical, dental, and veterinary treatment, medication, nutritional security, clean water, and health education. We are a student-run organization with a focus in providing communities with access to medical treatment, medication, and health education, while familiarizing students with real-life medical situations involving actual patients. This unique abroad experience permits students to gain invaluable first-hand knowledge of medicine and its practice in foreign countries.
In summer 2023, we will be traveling to Guatemala to shadow and work with local physicians and gain hands-on medical experience with patients in a clinic for one week. This opportunity is open to ALL majors and years. Our in-person info sessions are over but the slides are linked in our Instagram bio (@vaw.uconn) for those who didn’t have the chance to attend.
