Volunteer Opportunities

  • Volunteer with America Reads

Are you interested in working with elementary school students? Do you want to impact your community by helping bridge the literacy gap? If so, JOIN AMERICA READS!!!

America Reads is a program that allows elementary school students the opportunity to work closely with UConn student volunteers (you!) during their class time. As a volunteer you will help them develop skills in reading comprehension, spelling, and overall literacy. Volunteers work in the same classroom for the whole semester allowing them to form close relationships with students. A benefit of the semester-long commitment is you are able to see individual student growth and how you have impacted their learning. If you are interested in working with children and want to help the surrounding community, this is a great opportunity for you! Volunteering occurs in 1.5 - 2 hour increments once a week.
