The mission of SMFI is to help students with medical needs. Our goal is to reduce the financial burden of medical needs and make visits to the doctor’s office financially accessible to all UConn students. We achieve this via a Chrome extension that replaces the New Tab page on Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge with one that we designed (called the SMFI Tab). We plan to place ads, from Google AdSense, on top of the SMFI Tab such that every time someone views the advertisement and/or interacts with it, we generate some revenue. Then we will send this revenue to the Student Health and Wellness Center (SHaW) to refund student medical costs. In other words, this extension will pay for UConn student health expenses!
More specifically, we are getting approval to place the extension onto the UConn Library computers. The traffic the extension would get from this will generate several thousands of dollars. This money will be sent over to SHaW who will then redistribute/refund the money to members of the UConn Community.
The purpose of this survey is to get a better understanding of the financial needs of the UConn community as they relate to medical expenses.
