Student Organization Events & Information

  • 10/6 SAVI Talks About Pox: Monkeypox & LGBTQ+

Warmly inviting you to join Students for Accurate Vaccine Information (SAVI) on Thursday, October 6th at 7pm over WebEx for our first meeting of the year (WebEx link below)! In this informal, student-led discussion, we will be talking about the recent Monkeypox outbreaks and corresponding vaccination efforts, as well as the disproportionate impact of both on the LGBTQ+ community. We also hope to touch on vaccine history, smallpox, and so much more!

We are thrilled to be joined for this discussion by Dr. Jeff Aeschlimann, infectious disease pharmacist and clinical professor at UConn School of Pharmacy, and Joshua Rozovsky, Medical Services Director at the Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Collective, both of whom are very excited to (virtually) meet students and share their expertise in this area!

What is SAVI? SAVI is an interprofessional UConn Health student organization dedicated to combatting vaccine hesitancy and promoting trust in science and public health through education and advocacy. We'll be chatting more at the beginning of this meeting about what we do and some of our goals and future events for this upcoming year. If you're interested in getting involved and/or staying up to date on SAVI meetings and events, fill out this brief survey and we'll add you to our mailing list!

Hope to see you on October 6th, and feel free to email if you have any questions about this event or SAVI in general!
