    The McNair Scholars Program is a year-round, multi-year STEM research and graduate school preparatory opportunity including, extensive professional development and academic writing and communication practice throughout the semesters, as well as a full-time, funded summer research component (optional, but highly encouraged!!).

    Being a McNair Scholar equips students with the tools to be competitively considered for STEM M.S. and Ph.D. programs.

    Many studies spanning across CLAS, CAHNR, Business, Engineering, Nursing, Pharmacy, Education afford students the chance to pursue a STEM-focused research project!

    Applications are due by Thursday,10/13/2022 by noon

    Students are eligible if they meet the following criteria:

    (a)   Among the first generation in their family to attend a 4 year college and from a low-income household (there is a chart on the application based on family size), regardless of race or ethnicity

    OR

    (b)   Self-identify as an underrepresented racial or ethnic group in higher education, such as Black (non-hispanic), Hispanic, American Indian, Alaskan, Native Hawaiian, and Native American Pacific Islander

    OR both (a) and (b)

    At time of submission, students must have 3 semesters of undergraduate study remaining.

    Regional campus students are encouraged to apply if they will be on the Storrs campus for the spring 2023 semester and beyond.
