  • 8/18 Beyond the PhD: Assistant Professor

    Beyond the PhD is excited to welcome Dr. Vanessa Scanlon, an Assistant Professor in the Center for Regenerative Medicine and Skeletal Biology at UConn Health. Dr. Scanlon was born and raised in CT. She received a bachelor's degree in Molecular Cell Biology and a second bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Genetic Sciences, both from UConn, Storrs. She studied the process of fracture repair in her PhD in the lab of Archana Sanjay, PhD at UConn Health, and pursued postdoctoral training in hematopoiesis and long-term time lapse imaging in the lab of Diane Krause, MD, PhD at Yale School of Medicine. She is passionate about science and strengthening the pipeline of underrepresented individuals to successful research careers. In her spare time, she enjoys live music, gardening, and star gazing. Dr. Scanlon will be giving a hybrid seminar about her career path next Thursday, August 18th at 3PM ET. Registration for the event is free and is open to anybody interested. The virtual portion of the event will be via our Zoom platform, and the in-person portion of the event will take place in the Low Learning Center.
