Research

  • Non-Musicians Needed for Hearing Study

    What is this study about?

We want to determine the prevalence of noise/music-induced hearing in young adults.

    Who can participate?
Any individual who is at least 18 years old. You may be eligible to participate regardless of how much or how little music you listen to or how often you are exposed to loud sounds.

What will I have to do?
The research study will take place in the Philips Communication Sciences Building. Participation will take about 1-2 hours scheduled at your convenience.

You will receive a free diagnostic hearing evaluation including objective and subjective measures and will be paid $10/hour.

You may also be eligible to participate in a follow-up study that would involve wearing a small device that measures your exposure to music/noise across daily listening activities. For this follow-up study, you could get paid $100/week.

The research is conducted under the direction of Dr. Jennifer Tufts, Dr. Christine Hare and Dr. Erika Skoe of the Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences Department.
