VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR A DRIVING SIMULATOR RESEARCH STUDY
Estimating a Crash Modification Factor for Forward Collision Warning Systems in the Vehicle Fleet
- The purpose of this study is to observe behavior of drivers facing several defined road traffic scenarios to learn how to improve road safety in these scenarios.
- You will operate a motor vehicle in a driving simulator environment. This is a full-sized sedan converted for use in research and surrounded by several projection screens which will display a virtual environment. Inside the virtual environment, the vehicle will behave as if it were a motor vehicle on an actual road.
- Participating in the experiment will take about 30 minutes of your time.
- You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver’s license to participate.
- Participants will receive $50 for completing the experiment.
Location of the research: University of Connecticut, Longley Building, 270 Middle Turnpike, Storrs, CT.
This research is conducted under the direction of: Prof. John N. Ivan, Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering.
