In this 100% online German course students develop communicative as well as intercultural competence in German. Being able to engage in dialogue with people from different backgrounds is becoming increasingly important. This German course provides the tools for students to develop the knowledge and skills to communicate, investigate a variety of topics related to everyday life in Germany, and collaboratively solve problems in German. Students will interact with each other and with speakers of German in the UConn community and beyond. Students will also interpret written, spoken and visual information and present what they learned to each other and to the wider community.

As a culminating intercultural citizenship project, students will apply their German language skills and their intercultural competence to address a problem of their choice.

This German course is intended for students with no prior knowledge of German. Course material will be presented at the introductory level; the class is designed for students with diverse academic backgrounds; there are no prerequisites.
