11:00AM - 4:00PM in the Ratcliffe Hicks Arena
Powwows are traditional Native American celebrations that include drumming, singing, and dancing and often food and vendors selling a variety of Native goods. They provide a way for different Native cultures and peoples to connect with one another as well as with other cultures.
The Light the Lodge powwow has been a tradition at UConn for 22 years. This year our powwow will feature several vendors and many different traditional song and dance styles.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome. A few dances, called intertribal dances, will even be open for everyone to join!
