    Hi everyone,

The Engineering Your Future (EYF) Conference is a one-day conference for 8th grade male-identifying students and allies and aims to introduce these students to possible future academic and career opportunities in STEM. The conference will be held virtually on Tuesday, April 19th, 2022, from 8:30 AM – 1:35 PM.

During the conference, the 8th grade students are exposed to STEM fields through a variety of volunteer-led workshops and sessions. The workshops consist of a demonstration and activity and a session we “Tools Clues”. All of this is run primarily by volunteer efforts and therefore we are hoping that you and/or members of your group will be willing to help us make this great opportunity happen.

Your involvement in the conference plays a pivotal role in allowing young students an opportunity to explore academic and career options in STEM. As a volunteer, you have the option to help run a workshop demonstration and/or run a tools clues session. As a volunteer, your time commitment is based on which activities you want to be a part of. You may sign up to volunteer during multiple shifts, but you will only be asked to learn one workshop demonstration. The workshops this year will be building a cantilever beam, a filtration activity, and building a robotic (prosthetic) hand. There a four total workshop shifts throughout the day, followed by the networking session in the afternoon. Volunteers will meet in the Student Union the day of the event and be paired based on workshop preference. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, along with an EYF t-shirt for everyone participating! Following the conference is a networking event from 1:35 PM – 2:35 PM for the professional and student volunteers to connect with one another.

    Workshop Session 1: 9:40 AM – 10:25 AM

    Workshop Session 2: 10:35 AM – 11:20 AM

    Workshop Session 3: 11:50 AM – 12:35 PM

    Tools Clues: 12:45 PM – 1:15 PM

    Networking: 1:35 PM – 2:35 PM
