Join the UConn Women's Center and UConn SHAPE for a new body-acceptance discussion group. Stand Up to Beauty Standards (SUBS) seeks to create a safe and inviting space for students of all backgrounds to develop body acceptance of themselves and others through discussion to critically analyze harmful expectations, social norms, and discriminatory practices. Peer-led discussions will focus on dismantling harmful appearance ideals and foster improved self-esteem and positive body image.
SUBS will take place every Wednesday for the remainder of the semester, beginning on Wednesday, March 30th from 6-8pm in the Women's Center Multi-Purpose Room. No sign-up or RSVP is necessary and participation is non-binding.
