On Thursday Feb 17th, Student Services Committee of USG are organizing a Movies for Mental Health workshop in collaboration with Art With Impact. This 2-hour program uses short films to create meaningful discussion around mental health and helps students connect with wellness resources available to them. The event will feature a student panelist, a community resource representative from the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and an on-campus Student Health and Wellness resource representative. This vritual workshop will include:
- Educational introduction about mental illness, mental wellness, stigma, and the media’s role in our perceptions of these experiences.
- Viewing and deep-dive discussion of three award-winning short films about mental health.
- Discussion around cultural stigma and mental illness in underrepresented communities.
- Therapeutic somatic activities that encourage participants to consciously connect with their minds and bodies.
- Panel discussion and Q&A with lived-experience speakers and accessible mental health resources.
- Post- Attendance incentives
