We are pleased to introduce the 6th annual LC TALKS event which will take place on Thursday, March 3rd from 6:30-8pm. This event, which is similar to the well-known TED Talks series, is aimed at providing a platform for people to share individual and inspiring perspectives about their world and activities with the community. Our theme this year is "SHINING LIGHT ON IDENTITY & MENTAL HEALTH."
All faculty, staff, graduate students, and undergraduate students currently or previously affiliated with UConn Learning Communities are invited to apply to speak.
If you have a personal story which touches on this topic, we are looking for you to share! Some themes we are especially interested in highlighting:
-Resilience in the face of bias, racism, ableism, sexism, xenophobia, homo and/or transphobia, or other systemic barriers
-The COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on and intersections with your mental health, identity, and UConn/college experience
-Other public health crises such as racism, educational inequity, and climate change which have impacted your wellbeing/college experience, and how you navigated these realities
-Another story of your intersecting identities and their relationship with your mental health/personal wellbeing
SPEAKER APPLICATIONS ARE DUE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11TH. We will interview and finalize speakers by Monday, February 21st.
