  • Sport Fan Study: Human Subjects Requested

You are invited to participate in a survey on fan behavior amidst a lack of team success. The aim of this study is to create an instrument measuring fan acceptance of, or even appreciation for, team failure, in consideration of potential future benefits.

Your participation in this study will require completion of a brief questionnaire and should take approximately 5-10 minutes of your time. Your participation will be anonymous, and you will not be paid for being in this study. This survey does not involve any risk to you. However, the benefits of your participation may add a new dimension to typical fan behavior research. It may also impact sport organizational strategies, if fans are amenable to franchises seeking to curtail current success.

The survey can be completed online at https://uconn.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_3RhvYxk9DqsmVBX

The principal investigator for this project is D. Betsy McCoach, Ph.D. This study has been granted approval by the University of Connecticut Institutional Review Board under the protocol #H12-024.
