We are sorry to share the news that Chelsea Cunha passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2022. Chelsea was a first-year student from Trumbull, Ct. She graduated from Trumbull High School in June 2021 and was excited to join the UConn community.
Chelsea aspired to be a math teacher; she was admitted to the NEAG Special Program in Education and was a member of the Honors program. In the short time she was at UConn Chelsea was involved with the UConn Future Educators, Women in Sport and she worked with the Mansfield Middle School Tutoring/Mentoring program through Community Outreach.
Friends and family are invited to attend a walk-through wake on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Rd. Trumbull. (Masks are required and social distancing requested.) Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St. Trumbull. Interment to follow in Nichols Village Cemetery. Condolences to the Cunha family can be sent to the Dean of Students Office, 233 Glenbrook Road, Unit-4062, Storrs, Connecticut 06269-4062.

Students needing support should reach out to the Dean of Students Office. To schedule a meeting please call 860-486-3426 or use the chat feature on the website and request a meeting with an Assistant Dean. The Dean of Students Office also offers drop-in support, Monday through Friday afternoons, no appointment needed at that time. Check out the drop-in hours for a specific day on our website.
The loss of a classmate is extremely difficult, and our deepest sympathy goes out to Chelsea’s family, and friends during this time of loss.
