    Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and Director of Operations, carries out communications and administrative activities for the Center, assists with grant management tasks, and supports the day-to-day operations of the outreach center. This is an hourly position, and the salary is commensurate based on experience and education. The Specialist will work 20 hours per week.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collect, store, and maintain documentation related to the day-to-day operations of the Industrial Assessment Center. This includes travel records, meeting minutes, partner contact information, training material and records, standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and technical information.
    • Plan and schedule partner meetings and events.
    • Update and post on the IAC website and social media accounts on a weekly basis.
    • Purchase supplies, equipment, services, and other items as requested.
    • Assist the PI and Operations Director with the hiring process.
    • Communicate with the fiscal officer on expenses, including payroll, travel, subawards, contractual and commodities.
    • Attend meetings at the Storrs campus or at partner sites within Connecticut as required.
    • Communicate with relevant offices and units at the University of Connecticut and to sub-awardees.
    • Prepare financial reports upon request.
    • Collect statistics and data for all operations and report them on a regular basis according to granting agency requirements.
    • Prepare regular reports to agencies and partners.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Bachelor’s degree and administrative experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    2. Evidence of excellent organizational and time management skills
    3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    1. Experience managing organization communications
    2. Experience collecting and reporting data
    3. Experience maintaining organization documentation
    4. Experience working with online purchasing and financial systems

    APPOINTMENT TERMS

    This is a part-time grant-funded position starting October 2021. An extension is not guaranteed and will be based on performance and available funding from the funding agency.
