If you are reading this message, then it is assumed that you are a member of the UConn community who is committed to giving back on a local, national, or global scale.
As a spoken word organization, Poetic Release serves as an outlet for poets on the University of Connecticut campus and promotes the art form of poetry. The organization to the best of its ability provides a shame free and open environment where students can express their thoughts on life, adversity and the world at large. The fundamental goal of Poetic Release is to build and expand community through expression.
In honor of National Poetry Month, Poetic Release is launching a new series called: Speak Truth to Power.
This series will consist of a variety of awareness campaigns including: pop-up poetry, radio segments, and cameos at our events. The main goal of these campaigns is to give a voice to topics/issues/causes that are being ignored and/or not talked about enough. These issues can range from subjects such as body image, racism, or class discrimination to personal issues such as expensive textbooks, food choices available, and/or how technology is taking over the world.
We are currently accepting submissions from the UConn community for ideas/topics that you find to be important and that should be addressed in a very public manner.
