  • 10/6 Rally for a Peaceful Planet

On Wednesday, October 6th, at 12PM, join hundreds of students, faculty, and staff as we walk out of class and join in solidarity on the Student Union Lawn in the name of peace. Organized by seven of the University of Connecticut’s largest student-run advocacy organizations [The Undergraduate Student Government, UConn Human Rights Symposium, PowerUp UConn, UConn Collaborative Organizing, Sunrise CT, UConn Praxis, and UConn Friday’s For Future] the ‘Rally For a Peaceful Planet,’ is a student-led walkout and peaceful protest offering common-sense steps toward a more peaceful future.

University of Connecticut Interim President Dr. Andy Agwunobi and Provost Carl Lejuez will be speaking at the Rally to address concerns in solidarity with student speakers and community leaders, including the Undergraduate Student Body President, the Student Body Chief Diversity Officer, and the President of the UConn Human Rights Symposium. All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend.

Student organizers have also invited dozens of state and local representatives to attend the Rally in solidarity with their constituents as a symbol of their continued commitment to advocating on behalf of peace. All invited representatives have been additionally invited to a roundtable discussion following the event.

Students will have the opportunity to speak directly with their representatives, and there will be tabling stations so that we can contact our representatives in government en masse. There will also be a poster making station, though we encourage everyone to make beautiful posters in advance!

It's all set up-- now all we need is for YOU to join US. In our unity, we can move mountains. See you on October 6th.
