Volunteer Opportunities

  • Committee Members needed

Interested in event planning and volunteering?

Campus-Wide Initiatives (CWI) is forming an event planning committee for Days of Service including MLK Day of service. MLK Day of Service is a well-established event on campus. For the Spring 2022 semester, the committee will have the opportunity to expand on Days of service highlighting other Black activists in a service-oriented racial equity series.

Fall events would include a food/clothing drive and students will begin preparation for MLK Day of service on January 17, 2022.

This is a great opportunity for students interested in what goes into planning a service event. First and second-year students can have the opportunity to grow into future leadership positions in campus-wide initiatives or community outreach as a whole. Becoming a member of the committee will also provide students with a space to collaborate with like-minded peers.

The committee will be split up into project teams to organize the event including but not limited to recruitment, reaching out to speakers, attendance, and facilitation.

    Responsibilities would include:

    • Biweekly meetings for 1 hour

    • Contributing to tasks for your project team

    • Enthusiasm for service in all forms (direct, indirect, advocacy, and research)

    • Ability to meet deadlines

    • Willing to collaborate with organizations on and off-campus

    • Being flexible and creative!

The committee will be supervised by the Student Coordinator for one-time programs & initiatives along with the Graduate Assistant for Community Service Days and Campus-Wide Initiatives.
