  • Earn Course Credit - Build Entrepreneurial Skills

    Interested in learning about entrepreneurship? The Connecticut Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation is offering two 3-credit courses this Fall for you to develop your skills and knowledge in industry-specific entrepreneurship fields. Open to undergraduate and graduate students, you can begin to grow your entrepreneurial mindset this Fall with Biomedical Entrepreneurship and InsurTech Venturing.  

    Biomedical Entrepreneurship - Students will gain experience that will help them be innovative thinkers and develop an entrepreneurial mindset as they are working towards their future career goals. Students will work on teams to try to solve a problem using new innovations in medical technologies and be coached by industry experts who address fundamental issues. Projects will be presented to external experts and teams will be supported in next step venture development, should they decide to move their ideas forward. Taught by industry experts, students will learn the fundamentals around creating a new business or venture within the realms of life sciences. An online application must be submitted before registering for the course.

    Biomedical Entrepreneurship is held every Tuesday, 6:00-9:00 p.m. It is cross-listed and can be registered under BME 6086-020, BADM 5894-011 or MGMT 5895-012. An online application must be submitted before enrolling in the course. Class seminars will be held virtually this Fall.

    InsurTech Venturing provides students with insights into the rapidly evolving insurance industry. They will learn from top industry professionals every week, analyzing real-world case studies and business models and growing professional skill sets. InsurTech Venturing students are eligible for the InsurTech Fellows Program, a launching pad for students into the next stage of their careers. The program provides students the opportunity to work with startup companies and grants them access to scholarship funding, mentors, industry experts and networks in the insurance industry. 

     InsurTech Venturing will be held every Wednesday, 6:15-9:00 p.m.  This is a special topics course listed under BADM 5894_003. An online application must be submitted before enrolling in the course. Class seminars will be held in-person at the Graduate Business Learning Center in Downtown Hartford. Accommodations can be made for students who need to attend class virtually.
