  • DMD/Ed Tech Seeks Proposals for ConnectiCon

    Greetings UConn Digital Media, Educational Technology, & Other Community Members!

    We’re excited to share that the UConn Dept. of Digital Media Design and UConn Educational Technology program will be partnering with the CT Festival of Indie Games to maintain booth space at the 2021 ConnectiCon XVIII celebration (Thursday, 9 September 2021 – Sunday, 12 September 2021 at the Hartford Convention Center).

    As such, we seek proposals from UConn students, alumni, and faculty/staff for presentations, technical demonstrations, and/or booth setups featuring projects developed at or in conjunction with UConn. If your project is selected for presentation/display, you will be provided with a badge that permits entry into ConnectiCon XVIII at no charge.

    Please submit your proposal(s) through THIS FORM by FRIDAY, 2 JULY 2021.

    We will send a follow up email once submissions are reviewed and new information regarding booth organization, setup, and schedule is available.

    Important Notes:

    • Because there is a June 30 deadline to apply for the CT Festival of Indie Games design competition, we ask that anyone who would like their project considered for an award complete the proposal form as soon as possible so we can forward you a link to the CT FIG design competition application;
    • Participation in the (above) CT FIG design competition is FREE, and entries will be adjudicated against like formats/entrants (e.g., split into students vs. non-students, digital vs. analog, etc.);
    • Booth space will be divided between multiple exhibits/exhibitors based on the number of submissions we receive;
    • Badges provided to participants will be managed on a day-to-day basis (i.e., badges will rotate per day);
    • Participants will be expected to contribute some of their time at ConnectiCon XVIII to staffing the booth (based on a rotating schedule);
    • FACULTY: If you cannot present your work in-person, you will be asked to designate a student affiliate of your project to present on your behalf;
    • FACULTY: UConn faculty projects will NOT be considered for the CT FIG design competition;
    • FACULTY: There will be a running animation/digital content reel running throughout the show, so we will be able to highlight projects that are not strictly interactive games/experiences

     Thanks for helping us bring this fantastic opportunity to life—we look forward to reading your proposals!
