  • Student Position Announcement: BBL Lab Assistant

    The UConn Biobehavioral Lab (BBL) in the School of Nursing is currently seeking 1-2 student workers for both summer and fall. These positions are open to Graduate and Undergraduate Senior students. Salary will be commensurate with current UConn educational level pay standards, and will be 20 hours per week. 

    Brief Position Description: The successful candidate will support research activities in School of Nursing bio-behavioral laboratory and have opportunity to work on multiple bio-behavioral research projects. Research activities may include:

    • Human subject enrollment and data collection (i.e., interview, bio-specimen collection)
    • Conduct experiments and provide research intervention
    • Organize, transport (between UConn health and UConn Storrs), and analyze bio-specimen and maintain record 
    • Prepare and maintain research materials and environment
    • Operate and maintain standard lab equipment
    • Organize, analyze, and communicate data
    • Read and summarize related literature
    • Write articles, reports and/or presentations

    Requirements for the job:

    Students MUST:

    • Have excellent communication skills
    • Able to follow research protocols and maintain detailed lab records
    • Ability to produce reliable results, problem-solve and trouble shoot problems of moderate difficulty.
    • Able to travel between UConn Storrs campus and UConn Health at Farmington.
    • Knowledge of computers and programming may be required in some specialty areas

    Preferred qualifications:

    -        Experience with human research
    -        Some experience with molecular techniques
