IRS has warned of a widespread phishing scam targeting Universities. The fraudulent message appears to come from the IRS and instructs recipients to click a link and provide personal information in order to claim their tax refunds. If you receive this or any other suspicious message, you can forward it to reportphishing@uconn.edu and delete it from your inbox. Cybercriminals often exploit annual and current events, such as tax season, the holidays, and COVID-19, to trick people into responding to a message. In general, do not click links in messages or download attachments if you are not expecting the request and/or do not know the sender.
