  • 4/28 Empowering Young Women: A Panel Discussion

    Wednesday, April 28th at 4:00-5:30PM

Join UConn's inaugural cohort of BOLD Fellows for an honest conversation on their experiences as young professional women navigating the workplace. Everything from the lessons learned, challenges encountered, to the triumphs celebrated and more will be discussed. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Jennie Weiner, Associate Professor of Educational Leadership from the Neag School of Education. All members of the community are invited and welcome!

During the past academic year, the 3 Helen Gurley Brown BOLD Fellows worked at non-profit organizations that aligned with their career goals and values. Xinyu Lin (Civil Engineering & Environmental Engineering B.S.E.) will share her experiences from City Fabrick, an organization located in Long Beach, CA that serves communities in need through collaborative public-interest design, planning, policy development, and advocacy. Tanya Miller (Physiology and Neurobiology B.S.) will discuss her time at Science Club for Girls, an organization located in Cambridge, MA that fosters excitement and literacy in STEM for girls and young women. Thalia Fuentes (Political Science B.A. & Management B.S.) will speak on her work at Capital Workforce Partners, an organization based in Hartford, CT that helps individuals overcome barriers to employment and closes the gap between skills and business hiring needs.
