  • 4/28 Test of Storrs Emergency Sirens (Wednesday)

The University of Connecticut will test emergency sirens on its Storrs campus at various times throughout the day on Wednesday, April 28.

The sirens are part of UConn’s emergency notification system, UConnALERT.

Through UConnAlert, cell phones registered with the system receive text messages during emergencies and when regular operations are impacted by weather closings and significant class schedule alterations.

The text message system will not be used during the April 28 test, in which sirens at various sites will be activated during the day to assess their function and volume.

In an actual emergency, information will be updated regularly through the UConnALERT website. Students, faculty, and staff should visit this site to register for cell phone text alerts, update their contact information, and obtain information related to emergency procedures and campus safety.
