Come to a talk by Dr. Michael Wallace, Professor of Sociology, where he will examine poverty in America from a historical and comparative perspective and propose possible short-term and long-term solutions for ending poverty in America. How does the current level of poverty in America compare to historical levels and to other affluent democratic countries? What are the strengths and shortcomings of current U.S. anti-poverty programs? What alternative proposals are there to eliminate poverty in the future?
The event will take place Tuesday, February 18th in Arjona 105 at 8PM.
The event is sponsored by the Human Rights Programming Fund and the Honors Alternative Spring Break and is OPEN TO ALL students to participate. Attending this event counts toward Sophomore Honors.
