Volunteer Job Title: Sports Committee
Reports to: Sports Director
Hours: Varies
Summary:
The Sports Committee volunteer, working under the Sports Director, will get real-world experience assisting in the creation of relevant social and digital sports content for a prominent news outlet. Will also gain/improve useful skills such as creativity, a basic understanding of media equipment, and more. Due to COVID-19 and campus restrictions, all work will be done remotely (There may be some exceptions)
Duties/Responsibilities May Include:
Watch assigned games
Take part in coach and player pre-game/postgame interviews
Write game recap/interview articles on a specific UConn sport
Do pre-recorded shows (audio only) on assigned UConn sport and/or general sports news
Engineer game broadcasts
Brainstorm ideas for possible events
Assist in managing the Social Media Pages
Become familiar with the general focus of an assignment
Requirements:
Working to achieve a degree in Journalism, Communications, Sport Management, or related fields preferred but not required
Interest in, and current knowledge and passion of at least one current UConn Sport or area of responsibility
Proficient with Twitter and Instagram
Familiar with Microsoft Word, Google Docs
Ability to work in a team environment
Available to meet bi-weekly & work on assigned tasks
Self-motivated, positive attitude, reliable
Good verbal and written communication skills
Willing to learn and able to adapt
