Cellular responses following acute stress and recovery in humans.
The University of Connecticut, Department of Kinesiology, is seeking healthy, male volunteers between the ages of 18 and 30, who regularly conduct ~1-3 hours of aerobic exercise per week, to participate in a research study. This investigation will examine cellular and molecular responses following short term dehydration, exercise and heat stress, and recovery from these stressors. Participation requirements include 5 hours spread over 3 days, and will involve blood and urine sampling. Participants will be compensated up to $100 for their time.
The benefits of participation include knowledge about your sweat rate, hydration status, and body size and composition. The knowledge acquired from this study will assist research and medical personnel in understanding cellular health.
