The UConn Migrant Farm Worker Clinic (MFWC) is excited to invite UConn pre-health profession undergrads to participate in a new volunteer opportunity opening up this fall. Like many of you, we've had a challenging summer given that the pandemic effectively grounded all community based service learning activities including our MFWC. But we are happy to announce that recently one of our valued clinical partners, Community Health Centers Inc. (CHCI) invited our students to assist with CHCIs Drive Thru Covid-19 Test Site at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
For this effort, we are looking for 1-2 students to volunteer Monday-Friday from 8AM-4:30PM starting November 2nd all the way through February. The risk of exposure for student volunteers is extremely low given that the student role is purely administrative in function, PPE is provided upon arrival, social distancing will be observed at all times, no direct contact with patients (pts are required to remain in their vehicles at all times) and testing occurs at opposite end of Rentschler field, by CHCI staff members only.
If you're interested in volunteering, please complete the following the steps:
1. Complete this form: https://publichealthuconn.wufoo.com/forms/m6os2k91r1ixod/. Upon completion of this form including the trainings on Page 3 if applicable, you are all set to sign up ( you do not need confirmation) for dates to volunteer!
2. PRINT and REVIEW the “Before You Go” and “Logistics” documents AND BRING COPIES WITH YOU on your scheduled date. This self-training guide is the ONLY training available for student volunteers (NO INSTRUCTION WILL BE PROVIDED ON-SITE). Read over the "Before You Go" and "Logistics" documents CAREFULLY BEFORE the date of your volunteering.
