    Join the UConn Office of Sustainability for a virtual Green Career panel this Monday, October 26th at 5:30pm! Hear from a panel of environmental professionals in a variety of fields, from environmental engineering & research to community outreach & resilience and on how you can make a difference ~ and a living ~ solving the multifaceted environmental issues of our time.     • Tauhirah Abdul-Matin, PE, she/her/hers, Department Manager at AECOM Infrastructure (architecture, engineering, construction, operations, and management):  As an environmental Engineering Consultant with over 10 years of experience, Tauhirah specializes in environmental compliance, investigation, and remediation. This work involves designing and delivering solutions to public and private clients in the oil, gas, mining, & chemical industries, in compliance with federal regulations RCRA, TSCA, CERCLA, and state regulations with CT DEEP, NYSDEC, NJDEP.  (More information about Tauhirah and her work here!)

    • Rose Croog, she/her/hers, Associate Research Analyst at Connecticut DEEP (Department of Energy and Environmental Protection): Rose Croog is a key researcher at the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection for improving state agency sustainable measures. She was a member of the CT Steering Committee for State Sustainability, a facet of GreenerGovCT’s Lead by Example Initiative and also holds experience in designing digital publicity and marketing materials for DEEP, unifying her research interests with making critical information publicly available and digestible.  Rose is also a UConn alum!     • Lee Cruz, he/him/his, Program Director for the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven: Lee connects the communities of New Haven, whether it be non-profits, businesses, or public agencies to “create social and economic capital for Greater New Haven, CT. His work is profoundly integrated with environmental work, as he has served on numerous advising boards linking community interests with public environmental policy. His work currently includes being a member of the Advisory Committee for CIRCA (CT Institute for Resilience and Climate Adaptation), and he was previously a member of: the City of New Haven Health Policy Committee, CT Department of Environmental Protection Environmental Justice Advisory Board, and acted on the Board of Directors for the New Haven Environmental Justice Advisory Boards.     • Jeanine Gouin, PE, she/her/hers, Vice President and Managing Director of Milone & Macbroom Environmental Consultants, Director of Water Resources Engineering & Environmental Science: As Vice President and Managing director of Milone & Macbroom Environmental Consultants, Jeanine’s “team is recognized throughout the Northeast as experts in river restoration, flood analysis and mitigation, water supply development, and environmental management.” Her firm led New England in numerous post-disaster relief efforts after Hurricane Irene and continues to provide environmental solutions to the area. Jeanine is additionally an active member of the UConn Board of Trustees and avid advocate for women in engineering. (More information about Jeanine and her work here!)

    • Grace Yi, she/her/hers, Green Infrastructure Assistant, City of Hartford Office of Sustainability: Grace Yi is the current Green Infrastructure assistant serving the City of Hartford Office of Sustainability! There, she works closely with Sustainability Coordinator Shubhada Kambli, as well as the Department of Public Works, Hartford Public Schools, and the city’s climate stewardship council. “She has developed experience collecting and manipulating geospatial information, observing and examining connections between the environment and its residents, as well as recognizing and resolving the issues vulnerable populations may face. Grace holds a B.S. in Environmental Science with minors in Geography and City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.     • Alysse Lembo-Buzzeli, she/her/hers, Manager of Commercial, Industrial & Institutional Programs at CT Green Bank: Alysse is an accomplished leader of the CT Green Bank Team, which works to make sustainable and energy efficient technologies more financially accessible for CT residents and companies. In facilitating the adoption of Green technological solutions, Alysse works to remedy the emissions crisis on a local and state level! Alysse was also a UConn Alum and previous intern of the UConn Office of Environmental Policy, now known as the Office of Sustainability! (More information about Alysse and her work here!)
